Job summary

Nash UNC Health Care is seeking an Endoscopy Technician to support the physician and nursing staff, ensuring the endoscopy suite is prepared and instruments are properly reprocessed. This role involves assisting during procedures and maintaining equipment per UNC infection prevention policies.

The position requires either Surgical Technology program graduation or a HS diploma/GED, with BLS certification and 1 year of healthcare experience. Onsite work, 40 hours/week, day shift.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program or High School diploma or GED.
• If graduation is HS diploma: Licensed as a Nursing Assistant I by the North Carolina DHHS.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.

Responsibilities

• Clerical—Schedules endoscopy procedures using the scheduling system and handles receptionist/clerical duties; orders and stocks supplies; prepares rooms and equipment.
• Clinical—Assists MD and RN with endoscopic procedures under supervision; handles instruments; assists with patient care, admission and discharge, patient identification and vital signs; documents in forms and charts.
• Professional Development—Maintains BLS and completes Endoscopy Technician competencies; attends trainings and meetings.
• Technical—Performs high-level disinfection (HLD) and reprocessing of endoscopes; maintains AERs or vapor management systems; monitors chemical levels and ensures proper hookups for channeled scopes; records data per UNC policies.
