Job summary

Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare, Inc. in Tallahassee, FL is seeking an Endoscopy Technician to support registered nurses and physicians during endoscopy procedures and patient prep in a busy clinical setting.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, with preferred completion of an endoscopy technician training program and BLS certification. You must become competent in PEG, EGD, colonoscopies, and bronchoscopies within 180 days of hire.

Qualifications

Required Education:

• High school diploma (or equivalent)

Prefer red Education:

• Completion of a formal endoscopy technician training program.

Required Experience:

• None at hire
• Competent in percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG), esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), colonoscopies, and bronchoscopieswithin 180 days (six (6) months) post-hire. Failure to complete the competency requirements within 180 days (six (6) months) post-hire will result in an action plan. If requirement is not met, incumbent’s employment status will be evaluated. Not meeting a requirement of the job can result in issuance of progressive corrective action, up to and including discharge/termination of employment.

Preferred Experience:

• Endoscopy technician experience
  

Required Certification/License/Registry:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Preferred Certification/License/Registry:

• Endoscopy technician certification from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CPSPD), Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA), Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA), and/or the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM).
• Nursing assistant certification.

Responsibilities

Job Summary:

• Functions under a registered nurse’s (RN’s) (i.e., RN/Nurse Manager, RN/Assistant Nurse Manager, RN/Clinical Nurse (JC: 030803), and/or RN/Flex Staff Nurse (JC: 032003)) oversight.
• Assists Doctors of Medicine (MDs) and RNs with all endoscopy procedures.
• Repositions patients on stretchers.
• Maintains an environment conducive to patients’ safety.
• Assists in admitting and discharging outpatients, including interviewing and documenting the same on charts.
