Job summary

Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare in Tallahassee, FL is recruiting an Endoscopy Technician to assist MDs and RNs with endoscopy procedures under RN supervision. You will reposition patients, maintain a safe environment, and help with patient admissions and documentation, while ensuring high-quality patient care and equipment readiness.

Qualifications

Required Education:

• High school diploma (or equivalent)

Prefer red Education:

• Completion of a formal endoscopy technician training program.

Required Experience:

• None at hire
• Competent in percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG), esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), colonoscopies, and bronchoscopieswithin 180 days (six (6) months) post-hire. Failure to complete the competency requirements within 180 days (six (6) months) post-hire will result in an action plan. If requirement is not met, incumbent's employment status will be evaluated. Not meeting a requirement of the job can result in issuance of progressive corrective action, up to and including discharge/termination of employment.

Preferred Experience:

• Endoscopy technician experience

Required Certification/License/Registry:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Preferred Certification/License/Registry:

• Endoscopy technician certification from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CPSPD), Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA), Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA), and/or the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM).
• Nursing assistant certification.

Responsibilities

Job Summary:

• Functions under a registered nurse's (RN's) (i.e., RN/Nurse Manager, RN/Assistant Nurse Manager, RN/Clinical Nurse (JC: 030803), and/or RN/Flex Staff Nurse (JC: 032003)) oversight.
• Assists Doctors of Medicine (MDs) and RNs with all endoscopy procedures.
• Repositions patients on stretchers.
• Maintains an environment conducive to patients' safety.
• Assists in admitting and discharging outpatients, including interviewing and documenting the same on charts.
