Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing patients for designated procedures as requested by physicians
- Accurately complete laboratory slips and culture/path slips, as requested
- Report observed changes in patient condition to Endoscopy/Recovery Room nurse (if applicable)
- Restock supplies after procedures or at end of the day
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to prepare the endoscopy suite according to patient, physician, and procedure requirements
- Assemble and provide properly functioning equipment, supplies, and instruments
- Ensure high-level disinfection and sterility of instruments and supplies according to policy and procedure
- Follow manufacturer instructions for cleaning, high-level disinfection, or sterilization of instruments and/or equipment
- Clean the endoscopy suite between cases and perform daily terminal cleaning per policy
- Maintain adequate inventory of supplies
- Proactively participate in QAPI and Safety Programs
- Adhere to the Code of Conduct and center policies and procedures
- Provide a caring, respectful, compassionate, empathetic, and tolerant attitude; promote patient and physician satisfaction
- Maintain a safe environment for patients and communicate safety concerns appropriately following the chain of command
- Legibly document when necessary in the performance of duties
- Practice appropriate aseptic techniques and sterile processes in the endoscopy suite
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Refer situations beyond ability or function to the proper person
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned and attend required education
- Participate in staff meetings, in-services, and continuing education as required
