Job summary

Wake Endoscopy Center LLC in Clayton, NC is seeking an Endoscopy Technologist to assist physicians, prepare patients, and ensure proper care and use of instruments during GI procedures.

The role emphasizes teamwork, aseptic technique, PPE, room turnover, high-level disinfection, accurate documentation, and participation in safety programs while maintaining a safe environment and collaborating with nurses and staff for smooth workflow.

Qualifications

  • High school Diploma or equivalent.
  • BLS certification.
  • One (1) year experience as an endoscopy technologist (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Assists in preparing patients for designated procedures as requested by the physician
  • Accurately completes laboratory slips and culture/path slips, as requested
  • Reports observed changes in patient condition to Endoscopy/Recovery Room nurse (if applicable)
  • Restocks supplies after procedures or at the end of the day
  • Works with the healthcare team to prepare the endoscopy suite according to patient, physician, and procedure requirements, including assembling and providing properly functioning equipment, supplies, and instruments
  • Ensures high-level disinfection and/or sterility of instruments and supplies according to policy and procedure
  • Follows manufacturer’s instructions for cleaning, high-level disinfection, or sterilization of instruments and/or equipment
  • Cleans the endoscopy suite between cases and for daily terminal cleaning
  • Maintains adequate inventory of supplies
  • Participates in QAPI and Safety Programs
  • Adheres to Code of Conduct and center policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates caring, respect, sensitivity, tact, compassion, empathy, and tolerance
  • Provides a safe environment for the patient and communicates safety concerns appropriately following the Chain of Command
  • Documents accurately when necessary in the performance of job duties
  • Promotes patient and physician satisfaction
  • Practices appropriate aseptic techniques and sterile processes in the endoscopy suite
  • Wears appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Refers situations beyond ability to the proper person
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned and attends required education
  • Participates in staff meetings, in-services, and continuing education as required

Overview

Responsible for rendering professional care to patients undergoing GI procedures within the Center, in accordance with established procedures. Works cooperatively with physicians and team members with strong teamwork characteristics. May be responsible for ensuring proper care and use of instruments and equipment. May transport patients to and from the procedure room and assist with cleanliness of the procedure room and room turnover.
