Job summary

Cone Health is seeking an Endoscopy Technician to assist the nurse with preparing rooms and equipment for endoscopic procedures in a hospital setting. You will maintain endoscopes according to manufacturer guidelines and work under supervision to support physicians during interventions.

Typical duties include cleaning and disinfecting equipment, monitoring patients, transporting and assisting patients within the facility, taking messages, and collecting specimens as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1 year of experience is preferred.
• BLS CPR certification (American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider) is required.

Responsibilities

• Sets up procedures and maintains room turnover to ensure rooms are ready for endoscopic procedures.
• Cleans and maintains endoscopes and other equipment and reports malfunctions.
• Monitors patient status and communicates findings to nurse/physician.
• Relays messages and information via hospital phone lines as needed.
• Assists patients with toileting, dressing and transportation within the hospital.
• Collects bodily fluid specimens as needed for medical study.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Endoscopy Technician assists the nurse with setting up equipment and supplies in procedures rooms and maintaining endoscopes and equipment per manufacturer guidelines. Working under close supervision, this role assists nurse and physician during procedures with devices needed for intervention as well as disinfects and maintains endoscopes and equipment per manufacturer guidelines.

Essential Job Function:

• Supports the nurse and physician by setting up procedures and organizing room turnover to ensure that rooms are ready for endoscopic procedures.
• Cleans and maintains equipment, including endoscopes, to communicate readiness for surgery and report malfunctioning equipment as needed.
• Observes changes in patients in order to support needs and report findings to the nurse and physician.
• Handles phone calls to the hospital to relay and take messages and information to the proper parties.
• Assists patients with toileting, undressing and dressing as well as transportation to and from various locations within the hospital.
• Collects bodily fluid specimens from patients in order to provide samples for medical study.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:

• Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

• Preferred: 1 year

Licensure/Certification/Listing:

• Required: BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
