Job summary

FMOL Health in Jackson, MS is seeking an Endoscopy Technician to support physicians and nurses during endoscopy procedures, prepare and maintain instruments, and ensure room readiness for all cases.

You will assist with advanced procedures, collect specimens, monitor patient vitals, and help maintain equipment and supplies while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Two years of Endoscopy-specific experience.
• High School Diploma and GI Associate coursework through SGNA every 5 years.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians or RNs in basic and advanced endoscopic procedures (EUS, ERCP, EBUS).
• Collect specimens using standard procedures and monitor vitals.
• Reprocess and disinfect endoscopic instruments and prepare suites per requirements.
• Maintain equipment, inventories, and conduct in-service training as needed.

Job description

The Endoscopy Technician performs various patient care activities related to the treatment and care of endoscopy services. This role provides support for physicians and nurses during endoscopy procedures, prepares and maintains instruments and equipment, anticipates the needs of the room, and may obtain specimens. The Endoscopy Technician 2 assists MD/RN during basic and advanced procedures and serves as a resource for peers and precepts new team members.

Responsibilities

• Intra-procedural Patient Care
  • Assist physicians or registered nurses in the conduct of basic and advanced endoscopic procedures such as Endoscopic Ultrasounds (EUS), Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), and Endo-bronchial ultrasound (EBUS)
  • Collect specimens from patients, using standard medical procedures.
  • Place devices such as blood pressure cuffs, pulse oximeter sensors, nasal cannulas, surgical cautery pads, and cardiac monitoring electrodes on patients to monitor vital signs.
• Reprocessing / High Level Disinfecting (HLD)
  • Clean, disinfect, or calibrate scopes or other endoscopic instruments according to manufacturer recommendations and facility standards.
  • Prepare suites or rooms according to endoscopic procedure requirements.
• Maintenance of Equipment/Supplies
  • Perform safety checks to verify proper equipment functioning.
  • Maintain or repair endoscopic equipment.
  • Maintain inventories of endoscopic equipment and supplies.
  • Conduct in-service training sessions to disseminate information regarding equipment or instruments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and completion of GI Associate coursework through SGNA every 5 years
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
