Job summary

Charleston GI is seeking a full-time Endoscopy Technician for the high-volume West Ashley center. The role involves floating through three areas: procedure room, decontamination, and documentation tasks in EMR.

You will assist physicians during endoscopic procedures and help with room turnover and specimen documentation. The position requires healthcare experience, familiarity with medical terminology, solid communication and computer skills, and a CMA certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of healthcare experience or graduation from a medical assisting/surgical technician program preferred.
• BLS certification preferred
• Must have knowledge of medical terminology
• Must be detail oriented
• Must be able to communicate effectively
• Must have basic computer skills
• Must be flexible
• Must be Certified Medical Assistant

Responsibilities

• Prepare the procedure room in a timely manner and assist the physician with endoscopic procedures.
• As circulator, assist with documentation of pathology specimens and room turnover.
• In the decontamination room, perform high-level disinfection of endoscopic scopes/equipment.
• Unload supplies and scan documents into the EMR.
• Other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Nursing or charge nurse.

Our team includes ten outstanding Board Certified Gastroenterologists, with a combined experience of over 100 years of treating patients. Full-Time Endoscopy Technician needed for our high volume, fast-paced endoscopy center in West Ashley. This individual will be required to float through three areas. In the procedure room, he/she is responsible for preparing the procedure room in a timely manner and assisting the physician with endoscopic procedures. As circulator, the Endoscopy Technician will assist the procedure room tech with documentation of pathology specimens and assist with room turnaround. In the decontamination room, the Endoscopy Technician is responsible for the high-level disinfection of endoscopic scopes/equipment. In addition, the position requires unloading supplies, scanning of documents into EMR, and other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Nursing or charge nurse. The position is Monday - Friday, 6:45 am - 3:15 pm.
