Job summary

Advocate Health Care is seeking an Endoscopy Technician to support patient transport, prepare rooms and assist during endoscopy procedures in a fast-paced unit. You will help with patient positioning, labeling and transport of specimens, and collaborate with RNs and physicians to ensure safety and efficiency.

The role requires attention to asepsis, proper decontamination per SGNA guidelines, and ability to operate or monitor high-level disinfection equipment.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• Patient care experience preferred.
• Knowledge of computer keyboard preferred.
• Good communication skills.
• Good organizational skills.
• Good interpersonal/ customer service skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides efficient patient transport to, within and from the unit.
• Assist with positioning of patients and basic patient care during procedures.
• Endoscopy Technician ensures patient safety during electrocautery procedures and proper grounding.
• Lab specimens handled properly; assist in collection, labeling and transport to/from Lab.
• Assist with procedures under guidance of the RN.
• Set up rooms and equipment for procedures to optimize turn around time.
• Communicate pertinent information to RN/Charge Nurse/Manager/Physician.
• Assist in pre and post-procedure care under RN guidance.
• Take vital signs, transport patients, assist with dressing/undressing.
• Initiate or collaborate on safety initiatives and report safety events.
• Endoscopes cleaned and decontaminated per SGNA standards.
