Job summary

We are seeking an Endoscopy scope Reprocessing Technician to support the GI Lab's Scope Reprocessing Room at UAB St. Vincent's. You will clean, high-level disinfect, test, dry, store and track flexible endoscopes and related accessories according to IFUs and infection-control policies.

• BLS Provider within 1 month of hire date (AHA or ARC accepted).
• License/certification/registration requirements noted.
• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience or an Associate/Technical degree or 4 years of applicable experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare equipment and manage specimens for procedures.
• Review medical history and appropriately position patient and prepare testing sites.
• Interpret, describe and report test results while minimizing recording errors.
• Monitor patient before, during and after procedures and report abnormal findings.
• Prepare and maintain equipment, supplies and lab area.

• Responsibilities: An Endoscopy scope Reprocessing Technician is responsible for the safe cleaning, High-Level Disinfection, testing, drying, storage, and tracking of flexible endoscopes and related accessories in accordance with manufacturer instructions for use (IFUs), professional guidelines, and facility Policies. The technician performs leak testing, manual cleaning, operates automated endoscope reprocessors (AERs), maintains accurate documentation, manages reprocessing equipment and supplies, and helps ensure patient safety through strict adherence to infection prevention standards.

Job Description

Support endoscopic procedures by preparing the equipment, field and managing specimens.

• Prepare patients for procedures by reviewing medical history, appropriately positioning patient and cleaning/shaving/numbing testing sites as appropriate.
• Interpret, describe and report test results. Recognize recording errors and artifacts and react appropriately.
• Monitor patient prior to, during and after procedures and promptly reports any abnormal findings in patient's condition.
• Prepare and maintain equipment, supplies and lab area.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
