Job summary

Houston Healthcare is seeking a nursing assistant to support an organized unit under the supervision of a registered nurse. Responsibilities include cleaning, disinfection, and proper handling of instruments and supplies per the care plan. Current BLS certification is required.

Candidate should have a High School diploma or GED and at least six months of hospital or physician office experience, with strong communication and teamwork skills to ensure excellent patient service.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months hospital or physician specialty office experience preferred.
• Current AHA/ARC BLS certification.
• Knowledge of basic patient care procedures and medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Assist with cleaning, disinfection, ordering and utilization of instruments and equipment.
• Provide needed supplies in accordance with Houston Healthcare's care plan and standards.
• Assist with patient care under supervision of a registered nurse.
• Communicate effectively with team to ensure quality patient service and safety.

Work Shift:

Under the general supervision of a registered nurse, assists in ensuring an effectively organized and operational unit through appropriate cleaning, care, disinfection, ordering and utilization of instruments and equipment. Provides needed supplies in accordance with Houston Healthcare's Plan for the Provision of Nursing Care, standards of care and standards of performance. Assists with patient care as directed.

Current BLS required.

A. Education & Training:

High School graduate or GED equivalent.

B. Experience:

Six (6) months hospital or physician specialty office.

C. Required Certification/Registration/Licensure:

Current AHA/ARC BLS certification.

D. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Must be able to utilize diagnostic equipment as well as patient care equipment.
• Knowledge of procedures and techniques in administering and providing basic
• patient care services. Knowledge of medical terminology. Effective
• communication skills, solid team player and a commitment to providing excellent
• patient service and professionalism. Must be able to utilize personal protective
• equipment such as gloves, gown, mask, etc.
