Job summary

HCA Healthcare’s Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, TX seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for the Endoscopy GI Lab. The role entails pre-op evaluation, patient education, IV therapy, site verification, and active participation in safety protocols with a collaborative surgical team.

The position requires ACLS and BLS within stated timeframes, a nursing degree, and Texas RN licensure, with on-call during select non-business hours.

Qualifications

• ACLS must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
• BLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Graduate of an accredited diploma, associate, or bachelor’s degree nursing program.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery and provide education for the peri-operative process.
• Prepare patients including IV therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification and universal protocols per hospital policy.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies while delivering high-quality, evidence-based care.
• Be an integral member of an interdisciplinary team including providers, surgeons, and technicians.
