Job summary

University of Mississippi Medical Center's Interventional Endoscopy unit is seeking an Endoscopy RN to admit and assess patients for procedures, administer sedation, monitor vitals, and assist physicians with equipment during endoscopic interventions. The role also covers recovery and after-hours call coverage.

Candidates must hold a valid RN license, with ACLS and BLS within 90 days of hire. A minimum of one year in critical care, cardiac, ER, or endoscopy is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must hold valid RN license.
  • ACLS and BLS within 90 days of hire.
  • One year of Critical Care, Cardiac, ER or Endoscopy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Admission of patients to endoscopy lab, assess history, medications, labs, vital signs and start IV lines for sedation.
  • Triaging of inpatients for endoscopic procedures based on severity of illness.
  • Specializes and assists in care of critical and non-critical patients undergoing diagnostic and specialized endoscopic procedures including sedation and post procedure recovery.
  • Assisting physicians with interventional procedures (ERCPs, EUS, EBUS, navigational bronchoscopy, PEG tube placements).
  • Monitor patients in recovery phases I and II, including post procedure vitals and discharge readiness.
  • Educates patients and families on pre- and post-procedure care.
  • Call coverage nights, weekends, and holidays.
