Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking an Endoscopy Tech to support the reprocessing of endoscopes and operate related equipment in the ambulatory setting. Under RN supervision, you will contribute to safe patient care and maintain clean, compliant environments.

Responsibilities include helping with endoscope reprocessing, inventory control, and coordination with nursing staff to ensure timely starts and turnovers. A high school diploma and CPR/BLS are required; a BS is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• CPR – Basic Life Support.

Responsibilities

• Maintains competencies in the reprocessing of endoscopes and operating the scope washers.
• Identifies actual or potential problems with the integrity of the endoscopes and assists the charge nurse in orchestrating repair.
• Maintains documentation regarding the inventory and repair of endoscopes.
• Uses proper patient identification procedures in transporting of patients.
• Safely transports patients by wheelchair or stretcher.
• Demonstrates support and awareness of daily schedule by expediting on time starts and efficient turnover between procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of endotherapy supplies and equipment.
• Locates, obtains, and restocks supplies and equipment.
• Performs services requiring technical and manual skills under the direction of a physician and/or nurse.
• Maintains a clean and orderly environment.
• Assists the nurse in the preparation of the patient prior to and after the procedure.
