Job summary

Brown University Health’s Endoscopy unit seeks a Nurse Assistant to support the Staff Nurse in direct patient care for endoscopy patients, including positioning, assisting with procedures, and instrument handling.Responsibilities include preparing rooms, maintaining aseptic technique, and assisting with biopsies and cautery as needed.

Requires a High School diploma, BLS, RI CNA registration or relevant experience; SGNA program preferred and GI Tech certification expected within a year.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current certification in Basic Life Support required.
• Current RI registration as a Certified Nursing Assistant or experience in Endoscopy/Surgical or related role preferred.
• Completion of SGNA program preferred; GI Technical Specialist certification expected within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist Staff Nurse with all aspects of the nursing process including baseline and ongoing assessments, care planning, and monitoring patient response to interventions.
• Prepare Endoscopy room with anticipated supplies, instruments, and equipment; assist with endoscopy procedures and instrument handling.
• Maintain aseptic technique and safe environment; ensure all equipment/instruments function properly; perform high-level disinfection of endoscopes and accessories.
