Job Summary
The Endodontist will specialize in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of damage or injury to the tooth pulp, tissue, and nerves within and surrounding the root of a tooth that have become damaged or infected due to bacteria. This is a part-time position, up to 20 hours/week.
Characteristic Job Tasks and Responsibilities
- Provide quality care for patients with endodontic problems, adhering to high standards of ethics and professionalism.
- Examine, diagnose, and treat diseases of dental pulps and periapical tissues.
- Evaluate findings and prescribe treatment to prevent tooth loss and restore functionality.
- Diagnose conditions and plan treatments, including pulp capping, pulp removal, root canal treatment, and filling pulp chambers and canals with endodontic materials.
- Contribute to student success as a faculty member, including advising and participating in scholarly activities.
- Engage in community outreach and institutional activities, such as fundraising and serving on boards.
- Perform surgical removal of pathologic tissue at the apex of teeth and other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Must possess a DMD or DDS license and be capable of obtaining a Pennsylvania dental license.
- Completion of an accredited advanced education program in endodontics.
- Computer literacy, including experience with dental software, and knowledge of ADA coding, HIPAA, FERPA, OSHA, and safety protocols.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work cooperatively, maintain confidentiality, and be flexible with duties.
- Supervisory experience with dental students preferred.
Minimum Qualifications
- Licensed DMD or DDS, with the ability to obtain a Pennsylvania dental license.
- Completion of an accredited advanced endodontics program.
