Job summary

IVIRMA in Waltham, MA, is seeking an Endocrine Laboratory Technician to operate hormone analyzers onsite, manage patient results in EMR, and maintain strict quality controls. The role requires attention to detail and adherence to safety and HIPAA regulations.

Qualifications

  • Electronic Medical Records experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains accurate and current records of patient results and inventory.
  • Performs hormone assays and reports results into EMR system.
  • Adheres to quality control policies; documents calibrations and maintenance.
  • Follows lab policies when tests are outside acceptable performance levels.
  • Keeps abreast of OSHA requirements and safety procedures.
  • Ensures patient care quality and confidentiality per HIPAA.

Endocrine Lab Technician - Waltham, MA

Full-Time Waltham, MA, US

The Endocrine Laboratory Technician is expected to be proficient at operating and maintaining hormone analyzers onsite. This position must f ollow the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results. Attention to detail is essential with these duties.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM or 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. This position also requires participation in a rotating weekend and holiday schedule.

Essential Functions and Accountabilities:

  • Maintains accurate and current records of patient results and inventory. Performs hormone assays utilizing an automated process and resulting system; reports results into Electronic Medical Records (EMR) computer system.
  • Adheres to the laboratory’s quality control policies; documents all quality control activities, as well as all instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
  • Follows the laboratory’s policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory’s established, acceptable levels of performance.
  • Studies and remains current and knowledgeable with the Laboratory Operating Manual regarding quality assurance, quality control, safety procedures and operating guidelines for performing all assigned laboratory services.
  • Holds a comprehensive understanding of and follow all OSHA requirements for safe laboratory operations to maintain a safe laboratory environment.
  • Assures quality care by adhering to therapeutic standards; follows practice, physician and laboratory division philosophies, as well as standards of care set by the state and other governing agency regulations.
  • Works cooperatively with the Company multidisciplinary teams to provide good patient care and achieve the objectives and goals of the practice.
  • Maintains patient confidence and protect operations by keeping all patient and proprietary information confidential. Adheres to signed HIPAA Confidentiality Agreement.

Academic Training:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a chemical, biological, clinical laboratory science or related – preferred
    • Studies level: University Education (Bachelor's Degree)
    • Studies area: Chemical/Biological/Clinical Laboratory Science or other related field
  • High School Diploma or GED – required
  • Studies level: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)

Position Requirements/Experience:

  • Minimum 6 months’ laboratory training towards degree or experience in a clinical or research lab – required

Technical Skills:

  • Electronic Medical Records experience – preferred
  • Ability to operate laboratory equipment and hormone analyzers
