Job summary

SeAH Steel USA is seeking an End Welder to operate welding of slit metal, following plant policies and safety procedures during shifts.

Responsibilities include setting up end welder machinery, ensuring weld quality, inspecting coil edges, and performing routine maintenance while complying with environment and safety rules.

Qualifications

  • 1 year welding experience.
  • Prefer OCTG pipe industry knowledge.
  • Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills.
  • Manual dexterity for operating machinery and hand tools.
  • Knowledge of welding processes and manufacturing procedures.
  • Ability to weld or flame-cut metal components.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate end welder machine, mill entry, flatteners and accumulator.
  • Ensure cross weld quality and accuracy.
  • Inspect coil edge conditions and remove rough spots with grinders or files.
  • Monitor gauges and machine status for safe operation.
  • Review work orders and determine required materials.
  • Handle and move materials safely using proper tools.
  • Inspect equipment and identify defects or issues.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Monitor environmental data to detect problems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

The End Welder shall operate in the functions of welding metal slitted material in accordance with plant policies and procedures. He/she will ensure a safe and compliant operation during his/her shift.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the setup and operation of mill entry, Flatteners, End Welder Machine and Accumulator.
  • Responsible for cross weld quality
  • Responsible for coil edge condition.
  • Remove rough spots from work pieces, using portable grinders, hand files, or scrapers.
  • Operation Monitoring - Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Review work orders and specifications to determine materials needed to be processed.
  • Handling and Moving Objects - Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.
  • Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
  • Responsible for performing routine PM of equipment.
  • Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Competencies
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
  • Years of Experience:
    • 1 year experience in welding.
    • At least Knowledge and experience within the OCTG pipe industry is preferable.
    • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
    • Manual dexterity required for operating machinery, hand tools and hand held technical devices.
    • Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures, and welding operation.
    • Use hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld or join metal components.
  • Personal Competencies:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Employees must be able to work with a flexible schedule, which may require over-time.
    • Understands all applicable location safety rules and regulations and makes sure that all are being followed.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.
  • Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted on site.
  • The ability to lift 25/50 pounds regularly.
  • The ability to respond quickly to sounds.
  • The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
  • The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
  • The ability to safely climb ladders while carrying 40 pounds.
  • The ability to work in loud, hot environments/extreme weather while wearing required PPE.
  • Ability to see 20-20 when corrected.
  • Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
