Job Details

Job Location: Canonsburg Office - Canonsburg, PA 15317

Position Type: Full Time

Salary Range: $34.98 - $45.47 Hourly

Job Purpose

Arc Human Services is seeking a SHIFT Certified Enabling Technology Integration Specialist (ETIS) to support our growing Smart Living and enabling technology initiatives.

The ETIS works directly with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, families, Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), and other support team members to identify and implement technology that can increase independence, safety, community participation, and quality of life.

Working collaboratively with our Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) and interdisciplinary teams, the ETIS helps translate an individual's goals and support needs into practical technology solutions. This includes assessing needs, identifying appropriate technologies, coordinating implementation, configuring and installing devices, training individuals and staff, troubleshooting issues, and following up to make sure the technology is successful in everyday life.

The position also supports AHS's Smart Living Home, remote support initiatives, technology demonstrations, and broader Technology First strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate enabling and assistive technology referrals from initial request through implementation and follow-up.

  • Meet with individuals, families, and support teams to understand goals, routines, challenges, and opportunities where technology may increase independence or safety.

  • Conduct person-centered enabling technology assessments and assist with developing practical technology recommendations and implementation plans.

  • Configure, install, test, and troubleshoot smart-home, assistive, enabling, and remote-support technologies in residential and community settings.

  • Work collaboratively with the AHS Assistive Technology Professional (ATP), program teams, vendors, and other partners to implement technology solutions.

  • Provide hands-on training and coaching to individuals, families, DSPs, supervisors, and other staff so technology can be successfully incorporated into everyday routines.

  • Conduct follow-up visits to evaluate whether technology is working as intended, identify barriers to adoption, and make adjustments when needed.

  • Support the development and implementation of remote support technologies and service models.

  • Assist with demonstrations and tours of the AHS Smart Living Home and help individuals and support teams explore technologies in a real-world environment.

  • Develop simple user guides, training materials, and other resources to support successful technology adoption.

  • Maintain documentation related to referrals, assessments, implementation, equipment, training, follow-up, and outcomes.

  • Help track technology utilization, outcomes, and other Smart Living program measures.

  • Stay current on emerging assistive, enabling, smart-home, and remote-support technologies that may benefit the people AHS supports.

About Smart Living at Arc Human Services

AHS's Smart Living initiative explores how assistive, enabling, smart-home, and remote-support technologies can be incorporated into everyday supports for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Our approach starts with the person - not the technology. The goal is to identify practical solutions that can help someone do more independently, manage risk, increase safety, participate in their community, and improve quality of life.

The ETIS is a hands-on member of this work, helping move technology from an idea or recommendation into a solution that actually works for the individual and their support team.

What We're Looking For

  • Intellectual/developmental disability or other human services

  • Assistive or enabling technology

  • Smart-home or consumer technology

  • Remote supports

  • Direct support or community-based services

  • Technology implementation or troubleshooting

  • Training, coaching, or staff education

Qualifications

The successful candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through the effective use of enabling technology. This position requires the ability to build collaborative relationships with individuals, families, direct support professionals, providers, and community partners while managing multiple projects and priorities. The individual must be comfortable learning new technologies, providing hands-on training, troubleshooting technical issues, documenting activities accurately, and communicating effectively both verbally and in writing. A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel throughout the organization’s service area are required.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree in human services, information technology, rehabilitation, education, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered. Experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, implementing assistive or enabling technology, providing staff training, or coordinating technology projects is preferred.
