Job summary

Google in Sunnyvale, CA seeks an Emulation Operations Engineer to design, maintain, and improve the emulation lab IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, and data transfer between cloud and lab. You will explore novel workflows, data transfer mechanisms, and end-to-end regression flows to boost reliability and performance.

You will participate in on-call coverage, manage vendor relationships, and automate systems with code.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3 years of experience with emulation CAD operations.
• Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science, with an emphasis on computer architecture.
• 6 years of experience with emulation CAD operations.
• Experience in IT infrastructure management and Cloud systems design (including VMs), preferably in an emulation lab or HPC environment.
• Experience writing code (e.g., Python, Bash) to automate monitoring and data analysis.
• Proficiency with batch job schedulers such as Slurm, LSF, or PBS.
• Basic knowledge of Emulation/FPGA compilation and runtime flows.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, maintain and automate the IT infrastructure for the emulation lab, including servers, storage, networking equipment, and workstations.
• Explore and implement novel emulation workflows and methodologies including data transfer, schedulers and automated end-to-end regression flows.
• Participate in on-call rotation and monitor production distributed computing infrastructure, troubleshooting advanced technical issues within a Linux environment.
• Manage relationships with vendors for hardware, software, and support contracts.
• Automate systems management with code.
