Job summary

MEMS offers a paid, hands-on EMT-B rookie school as part of a full-time employment program in Little Rock, AR. Trainees begin at an hourly rate during the 9-week in-house training and progress to full-time shifts after licensure.

Next program begins January 11th, 2027; applicants complete coursework onsite and may sign a Tuition Reimbursement Agreement to work full-time for MEMS for 18 months starting Day 1.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Arkansas driver’s license with a clean driving record of 2+ years.
• Minimum age 19 at start of class.
• Physically fit and able to pass a physical exam.
• Able to attain scores on placement exam; Accuplacer offered onsite at MEMS at no cost.
• Pass a pre-employment drug screening.
• Pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Complete 9-week, full‑time in‑house EMT training while employed.
• After training, transition to full‑time EMT with field training and assigned shifts.
• Obtain Arkansas state EMT license and National Registry certification during/after the program.

EMT-B Training (Rookie School) Launch your EMS career with hands‑on paid training as a full‑time employee! MEMS offers college‑level class instruction at our headquarters in downtown Little Rock. * OUR NEXT PROGRAM BEGINS JANUARY 11TH, 2027! * COMPLETE AN APPLICATION TODAY!

Requirements

• Achieved a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Possess a current, valid Arkansas driver’s license and acceptable driving record of 2+ years.
• Minimum age of 19 at the start of class.
• Be physically fit and able to pass a physical examination.
• Attained acceptable scores on a recent college placement exam. One option is the Accuplacer entrance exam, which is offered onsite at MEMS at no cost to the candidate.
• Pass a pre‑employment drug screening. Please note this is a safety‑sensitive position.
• Pass a criminal background check.

Qualified candidates who are selected for Rookie School will be hired as full‑time employees and paid an hourly rate of $12.50. Rookie students are asked to sign a Tuition Reimbursement Agreement to work for MEMS in a full‑time capacity for 18 months beginning their first day of class.

• Student/employees attend our 9‑week, full‑time, in‑house EMT training, and are offered full benefits beginning March 1st.

After successfully completing the program and obtaining an Arkansas state EMT license and National Registry certification, full‑time employment continues with EMT field training. Once complete, new EMTs are paired with a crew partner and assigned their own shift slot. Full‑time newly licensed EMTs receive hourly pay of $17.25.
