Job summary

MEMS is seeking a Paramedic in Little Rock, AR to provide life support and patient transport in both field and hospital settings. You’ll work closely with first responders and hospital staff, following established medical protocols to care for diverse patients.

The role requires Arkansas and National Registry certifications, a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and a safety-focused mindset. SHIFTS vary; MEMS offers a full benefits package and ongoing training.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a current Arkansas State Paramedic Certification.
  • Must possess a current National Registry Paramedic license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Minimum age of 19.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening. This is a safety-sensitive position.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • American Heart BLS Level C (Can be obtained after hire on-site).
  • ACLS (Can be obtained after hire on-site).

Responsibilities

  • Provide life support and transport for sick and injured patients, in and out of hospital settings, as authorized by established medical protocols or a physician.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with all customer groups and agencies.
  • Work with a team to assess and treat patients quickly and effectively.
  • Remains calm and professional in stressful situations while delivering care.
  • Follow safety and protocol requirements and participate in ongoing training.

Job description

Paramedics provide medical care to emergency and non-emergency patients and maintain positive working relationships with all customer groups and agencies.

A Paramedic restores and promotes a patient's health by providing life support and transport of sick and injured persons, in and out of hospital settings, as authorized by established medical protocols or a physician.

What are the requirements?
  • Must possess a current Arkansas State Paramedic Certification

  • Must be physically fit and able to pass a physical examination
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening. This is a safety-sensitive position.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • American Heart BLS Level C (Can be obtained after hire on-site)
  • ACLS (Can be obtained after hire on-site)
What makes a successful Medic at MEMS?

  • Current Arkansas certification and National registration
  • Certifications in American Heart BLS Level C and ACLS
  • At least 1 year experience in EMS
What's it like to work as a Paramedic?
  • MEMS provides coverage around the clock, seven days per week. Most schedules include 12- or 24-hour shifts on a regularly rotating basis; other shift options may also be available
  • Paramedics work outdoors in all kinds of weather
  • Physical demands include walking, climbing, kneeling, bending, running and frequent lifting of 110+ pounds
  • Accurate hearing ability and vision that can be corrected to 20/40 are required
  • Respirator use may occasionally be required
Paramedics receive a starting salary of $54,912 for a metro 12 hr shift + depending on experience. Full benefit package includes retirement plan with generous match. The hourly rate varies based on assigned shifts. MEMS provides higher pay with experience.
