Job summary

Allina Health EMS is hiring an EMT to serve the community with hands-on training and mentorship within a hospital-based system that supports growth. You will respond to 911 calls, provide life support in the field under a paramedic’s direction, and transport patients to facilities as needed.

The role requires licensure as an EMT with BLS certification and a valid driver’s license. You will operate and stock EMS vehicles, document reports, and participate in ongoing safety and credentialing

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age and meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description.
• Passing of Fitness for Duty testing.
• One year driving experience.
• To obtain credentials per Office of Medical Direction during the probation period and maintain thereafter.

Responsibilities

• Provide life support patient care within the scope of certification.
• Respond to 911 calls in pre-hospital settings.
• Under paramedic direction, perform patient care and transport patients between scenes and facilities.
• Acquire and secure Class A narcotics as directed.
• Document and report to receiving facility; maintain communications with internal and external customers.
• Maintain and operate EMS vehicle per laws and company procedures; stock and clean vehicle.
• Maintain equipment per manufacturers’ instructions; report hazards.
• Assist with base maintenance tasks such as cleaning and disinfecting as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Responds and provides pre-hospital 911 services in the scope of certification and under the direction of a paramedic. Provides safe and comfortable transport from facility to facility. Maintains and operates vehicle adhering to driving laws and company policy. Stocks and cleans vehicles.

Principle Responsibilities

Required Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description

Preferred Qualifications

• One year working as an EMT

Licenses/Certifications

• Certified Emergency Medical Tech - EMT - Office of EMS required if working in MN or


• Certified Emergency Medical Tech - EMT - WI - Emergency Medical Services required if working in WI and


• Basic Life Support - American Heart Association or American Red Cross required upon hire. After hire recertification required through American Heart Association


• Valid Driver’s License required upon hire - MN and WI residents must obtain a valid driver’s license in their state of residence within 60 days of employment

Physical Demands

• Very Heavy Work:


• Lifting weight excess of 100 lbs. occasionally, over 50 lbs. frequently


• .98 FTE (78 hours per two-week pay period)


• 13-hour day/evening/night shifts


• Every other weekend rotation

Pay Range

Pay Range: $23.92 to $31.67 per hour

The pay described reflects the base hourly pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
