Job summary

University of the District of Columbia is seeking part-time, temporary instructors to teach courses at our Washington, DC campus. Incumbents will prepare and deliver curriculum using diverse teaching methods and will manage class schedules, office hours, and student assessments.

The role requires at least an Associate degree in a related field (Bachelor’s preferred) and EMT certification (NREMT) with DC certification possible before term start.

Qualifications

• Minimum of an Associate degree (in a related field) or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.
• Certified EMT with NREMT and able to be DC certified before start of term.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses as specified in the schedule and hold office hours for student conferences.
• Evaluate and select texts and instructional materials; prepare course materials and lesson plans.
• Collaborate with Program Coordinator to provide students an approved syllabus with objectives and outcomes.
• Use the institution’s learning management system to post syllabus, assignments and other materials and to communicate with students.
• Deliver course content using a variety of teaching styles and engaging assignments showing real-world applications.
• Assist in maintaining records of enrollment and attendance, assessments and grades, and submit class rosters and grade sheets.
• Provide a classroom environment conducive to learning and maintain classroom control.
