Job summary

City of San Rafael is seeking EMTs for three positions in the San Rafael Fire Department. This temporary, part-time role offers up to 20 hours per week with limited benefits and an hourly wage ranging from $23.37 to $29.83 based on experience and qualifications.

Under supervision of the EMS Battalion Chief, you will gain hands-on experience in basic life support, emergency response, and operation of ambulance services.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess EMT (EMT-1/EMT-B) and CPR certifications.
• Must obtain Ambulance Driver Certificate via CA DMV within one month.
• Must hold a valid California Class C driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provide Basic Life Support and assist Firefighter/Paramedic crews at incidents.
• Operate and drive ambulance safely while communicating with dispatch and team members.
• Attend training sessions and participate in drills to improve skills.
• Assist in equipment inspection, maintenance, and inventory control.
• Engage in community outreach and safety education activities.
• Provide administrative support and data entry as needed.
• Maintain physical fitness and pursue professional development opportunities.
