Canterbury Park in Shakopee, MN, is seeking a Security Officer to keep guests, staff and property safe. You will monitor entrances, patrol areas, respond to emergencies, and enforce rules while following the Emergency Action Plan.

This part-time role offers competitive pay starting at $18/hour, with premium pay for EMT certification where applicable, and a robust benefits package including paid time off and insurance options.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Excellent communication skills, judgment, high moral integrity and strong work ethic.
• Ability to interact cordially with all guests, employees, and the public.
• Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively and identify critical issues quickly and accurately while following protocol.
• Must be able to pass Canterbury Park's pre-employment screening including a criminal background check and drug screen.
• Must be able to attain a Minnesota Racing Commission (MRC) license.

Responsibilities

• Examine and become familiar with the assigned area and report hazards.
• Keep lookout for fires and safety hazards and notify dispatch in emergencies.
• Monitor entrances and protect premises from theft.
• Prepare incident reports on applicable forms for outside distribution.
• Sign in/out keys and equipment; admit staff and visitors.
• Escort people or property when assets or people require protection.
• Circulate among guests and employees to preserve order and safety.
• Answer alarms and investigate disturbances.
• Enforce rules and evict violators when needed.
• Be familiar with the Emergency Action Plan and evacuation procedures.
