Job summary

Carilion Clinic in Virginia is seeking an EMT-Basic to support Giles Transport operations. You will administer basic life support, prepare patients for transport, and respond to medical emergencies in pre-hospital settings.

You’ll gather patient data, document care, and communicate with physicians and hospital staff, while maintaining confidentiality and safety throughout transport. Requirements include Virginia EMT certification, AHA BLS-HCP, HAZMAT Awareness, and PHTLS/BTLS within one year.

Qualifications

• Must be certified as an Emergency Medical Technician in Virginia.
• AHA BLS - HCP required.
• HAZMAT Awareness and PHTLS or BTLS Basic within one year of hire date.
• Must maintain continuing education hours to meet re-certification standards.
• Must provide copy of driving record and meet eligibility requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic life support and transport to patients in pre-hospital settings.
• Respond to medical emergencies in 911 settings and protect life.
• Assess patient condition and initiate necessary treatments.
• Record, report, and communicate patient data to physicians and hospital staff.
• Maintain confidentiality and coordinate with external entities as needed.
