Job summary

ScionHealth is seeking an EMT to provide pre-hospital emergency medical care and transportation as part of a care team in Texas. You will support ambulance and hospital transport operations, maintain equipment, and document services per regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate holds an EMT certificate, BLS, a high school diploma, and a valid driver's license; ACLS is a plus. Prior pre-hospital experience is preferred. Varied shifts including nights and weekends may apply.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Responds to emergency calls and provides basic life support in line with EMT scope of practice.
• Assesses patient condition and determines nature of illness or injury, providing appropriate treatment.
• Assists in lifting, moving, and transporting patients safely via ambulance or other approved methods.
• Communicates effectively with dispatch, emergency departments, physicians, and family members.
• Operates and maintains medical equipment including oxygen, suction units, stretchers, and monitors.
• Documents all patient care activities accurately in EMR and company standards.

Job Summary

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is responsible for providing pre-hospital emergency medical care and transportation for the sick and injured in accordance with established protocols and regulatory requirements. Working as part of a team, the EMT ensures timely, compassionate, and efficient care to patients in a variety of emergency and non-emergency situations. The EMT maintains equipment and vehicles, documents services provided, and supports other clinical and operational duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

• Responds to emergency calls and provides basic life support in line with EMT scope of practice
• Assesses patient condition, determines nature of illness or injury, and provides appropriate treatment
• Assists in lifting, moving, and transporting patients safely via ambulance or other approved methods
• Communicates effectively with dispatch, emergency departments, physicians, and family members
• Operates and maintains medical equipment including oxygen, suction units, stretchers, and monitors
• Documents all patient care activities accurately in accordance with department and regulatory standards
• Maintains cleanliness, readiness, and inventory of emergency response vehicles and equipment
• Supports emergency room or hospital transport team functions as needed
• Participates in quality improvement activities and continuing education requirements
• Follows safety and infection prevention protocols in all patient care activities

Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of an accredited EMT program

Licenses/Certifications

• Current EMT certification in the state of practice required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company standards (if driving responsibilities are included)

Experience

• One (1) year of experience in pre-hospital emergency care preferred
