Brown University is seeking an EMS Shift Supervisor for per diem, part-time onsite work in the Emergency Medical Services department. The role combines direct patient care with shift management, ensuring safe vehicle operations, EMS equipment use, and coordination of BLS student crews on assigned shifts.

The EMS Shift Supervisor serves in both a direct patient care and shift management capacity. During assigned shifts, the EMS Shift Supervisor oversees or partners in patient care according to scope of practice, and manages all shift operations including safe and appropriate vehicle operations and safe and appropriate use of all EMS equipment and supplies. The EMS Shift Supervisor also oversees the autonomous BLS operations of designated eligible BLS student EMT crews who respond to patients in the ambulance and is the point of contact for all BEMS professional workflow on appointed shifts.
As adjunct faculty for the EMS Prehospital Education Programs, the EMS Shift Supervisor serves as a mentor and educator for students and EMS staff. Responsibilities include supporting EMT onboarding and training, conducting driver education, and facilitating assigned training activities related to EMT licensure, recertification, and continuing medical education requirements.
This is a per diem position requiring coverage of a minimum of three shifts per month, including at least one weekend shift.
