Job summary

Southern Company in Birmingham, AL is seeking an IT Operations Support professional to ensure reliable EMS operation and system availability. You will support Windows PC deployments, script for automation, and participate in VDI and server maintenance to keep critical transmission control centers running smoothly.

The role requires strong Windows expertise, scripting skills, and the ability to work on call 24x7 with cross-team coordination to respond to operational incidents.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience supporting and troubleshooting computer systems.
• General understanding of computer system infrastructure, operations, and security.
• Knowledge of electric utility transmission operations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day operational support and 24x7 emergency support for EMS systems.
• Support Windows PC deployments and troubleshoot PC issues.
• Recommend process and technology updates for the EMS team.
• Provide Windows scripting solutions; assist with VDI and server maintenance.
