Job summary

Richmond Ambulance Authority seeks a Safety & Risk Manager to provide technical and managerial support across departments in safety and risk management, with focus on compliance and building upkeep. The role develops, implements, and monitors programs to reduce losses and assure regulatory compliance.

The role also leads training in infection control, PPE, and hazard management, coordinates incident investigations, and interfaces with insurers and legal counsel to guide staff and operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Administration or Management or four years in safety/risk management.
• VAOEMS designation or ability to obtain within nine months.
• Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local EMS regulations and employment health laws.
• Two years of management experience with employment health laws and regulations.
• Experience in adult teaching and learning methodologies.
• Possess and maintain a Virginia driver's license.
• Familiarity with electronic data processing.

Responsibilities

• Diligent protection of PHI under HIPAA guidelines.
• Maintain safety program data including policy documentation, record keeping, auditing and ongoing compliance.
• Provide training in infection control plan, exposure control plan for blood-borne pathogens, airborne pathogens and other potentially infectious material; as Infection Control Officer for RAA.
• Coordinate safety system reviews for new processes and equipment.
• Lead incident investigations and corrective action planning with management.
• Interact with insurers, investigators and counsel to support staff safety.
• Monitor employee health status, immunizations, injuries, illness, and fit for duty.
• Chair the Safety Committee and drive safety culture and action item follow-up.
