Job summary

Gaston County Government’s Emergency Medical Services (GEMS) seeks an EMT Advanced or AEMT with strong scene management and transportation skills. The role includes supervising EMS responders, coordinating patient care, and ensuring compliance with protocols and regulations for countywide EMS operations.

Starting hourly rate is $22.45; candidates should have HazMat experience, PHTLS and CPR, a clean driving record, and the ability to lead in critical incidents.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a valid NC EMT Advanced or National Registry AEMT Certificate.
• Current PHTLS and CPR certifications.
• Valid driver’s license with 3 or fewer points on driving record.
• Experience and training in responding to and controlling hazardous material incidents.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and technical medical support in the operational readiness of EMS responders with lesser certification.
• Respond to and transport emergency and non-emergency patients to appropriate medical facilities.
• Direct emergency medical personnel at or below the EMT-Paramedic level in patient care delivery.
• Ensure compliance with GEMS SOPs, Medical Protocols, and NCOEMS Regulations in patient care and transportation.
• Complete Patient Care Reports with accuracy and proper documentation.
• Maintain unit readiness with clean, stocked equipment and supplies.
• Provide scene direction and EMS Operations coordination when needed in the absence of a supervisor.
