Job summary

Indianapolis EMS is seeking an EMS Educator to design and deliver engaging EMS education across classroom, clinical, and field settings. The role emphasizes adult learning principles, assessment, and collaboration with fellow educators.

The educator will maintain records, participate in audits, and ensure quality across pre-service and in-service programs while mentoring students and staff in a dynamic public-safety environment.

Qualifications

• Must have Indiana Paramedic License or equivalent.
• Minimum five years clinical experience as a pre-hospital provider.
• Associate’s degree preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License must meet IEMS policy.
• Instructor certifications CPR, ACLS; must complete next course within one year of hire.
• Primary Instructor certification or ability to obtain within one year.
• NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800.
• AWR 111, 160.
• EVOC Instructor preferred; must obtain within one year.

Responsibilities

• Provides instruction to various age-related groups of learners within Indianapolis EMS and associated entities.
• Writes evaluation instruments and administers tests for outcomes, competency, and mastery of content.
• Collaborates with other EMS Educators to ensure ongoing quality of programs.
• Provides information and guidance to participating students.
• Participates in self-assessment, peer mentoring, and continuing education activities.
• Organizes, schedules, and conducts educational experiences in classroom, clinical, and field settings.
• Monitors program activities, maintains records and submits reports on time.
• Communicates professionally with students, staff, providers and the public.
• Participates in audits, evaluation and research in emergency care.
