Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking an EMS Educator to develop and provide services related to orientation, continuing education, and assessment of clinical staff. The role adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Compliance standards and supports regulatory guidelines.

The position collaborates with managers to assess learning needs, designs curricula for clinical competencies, and serves as a consultant for staff development and program planning.

Qualifications

• RN or Paramedic program graduate required.
• Current RN licensure or Paramedic license required.
• 5 years of critical care experience and 1 year of teaching experience.
• 2 years in course coordination.
• CPR-BLS, CPR-PALS, CPR-ACLS required.
• IDPH Lead Instructor within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

This role develops and provides services related to the orientation, continuing education, and assessment of clinical staff.

• Designs, delivers, and assesses learning activities and curriculums related to clinical competencies, departmental/organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and the use of clinical information technologies.


• Serves as a consultant/mentor for staff in areas of program development, clinical practice, and professional development.


• Participates in the development, coordination, and delivery of new staff orientation and education activities.


• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required

• Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing or Paramedic program.


• Current RN licensure or Paramedic


• Five years of critical care experience and one year of teaching experience


• Two years in course coordination


• CPR-Basic Life Support (BLS)


• CPR-Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)


• CPR-Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)


• IDPH Lead Instructor within one year of hire

Preferred

• More than five years of critical care experience and more than one year of teaching experience


• More than four years in course coordination


• Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree


• Current IDPH Instructor


• ACLS Instructor


• Certified BTLS


• Certified PALS Instructor
