Job summary

Northwestern Medicine in Illinois is seeking an EMS Educator to align with our mission and improve clinical staff competencies through orientation, continuing education, and assessment.

You will design and deliver curricula for regulatory and clinical IT use, mentor staff, and contribute to new staff orientation while maintaining compliance and ethics.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing or Paramedic program.
• Current RN licensure or EMT-P license.
• Five years of critical care experience and one year of teaching experience.
• Two years in course coordination.
• CPR-BLS, CPR-PALS, CPR-ACLS.
• IDPH Lead Instructor within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with managers and staff to assess learning needs and competencies.
• Designs, delivers, and assesses learning activities and curriculums.
• Serves as a consultant/mentor for staff in program development and professional growth.
• Participates in the development and delivery of new staff orientation and education activities.

Description

The EMS Educator reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

• Develops and provides services related to orientation, continuing education, and assessment of clinical staff.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with managers and staff to assess the learning needs and competencies of staff.
• Designs, delivers, and assesses learning activities and curriculums related to clinical competencies, departmental/organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and the use of clinical information technologies.
• Serves as a consultant/mentor for staff in areas of program development, clinical practice, and professional development.
• Participates in the development, coordination, and delivery of new staff orientation and education activities.

Qualifications

Required

• Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing or Paramedic program.
• Current RN licensure or EMT-Plicense
• Five years of critical care experience and one year of teaching experience
• Two years in course coordination
• CPR-Basic Life Support (BLS)
• CPR-Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• CPR-Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• IDPH Lead Instructor within one year of hire

Preferred

• More than five years of critical care experience and more than one year of teaching experience
• More than four years in course coordination
• Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree
• Current IDPH Instructor
• ACLS Instructor
• Certified BLST
• Certified PALSI
