FSCA is currently hiring an EMS Technician Level II. This is a mid-level Technician role responsible for performing certified DOT inspections, Preventative Maintenance inspections, light and follow-up repairs, light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. The technician may also perform scheduled work on various customer fleets and provide emergency roadside assistance. The role requires creative problem-solving in emergency situations, self-management, effective decision-making, excellent customer service, attention to detail, and situational awareness. Flexibility in scheduling and the ability to operate effectively in emergencies are essential. The technician follows established processes and safety practices, documents work, and strives for high-quality output.
Duties
- Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, power steering, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.
- Participate in safety training and stay updated on safety protocols to maintain a safety culture.
- Document work performed, parts used, and observations using company devices and proprietary applications.
- Communicate with management, team members, and dispatch via Microsoft Office, email, or phone to discuss repairs and obtain approvals.
- Ensure all work complies with safety, health, environmental policies, and federal regulations such as OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
- Obtain parts from approved vendors as needed.
- Complete DOT and other required documentation accurately and timely.
- Manage parts inventory and equipment on the service truck, performing periodic reconciliation.
- Evaluate technical information related to the job.
- Prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Work independently, managing daily schedules.
- Assess customer needs, provide assistance, and resolve issues.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment, including systems listed above.
- Consult with customers, dispatch, and sales teams regarding vehicle issues and work scope.
- Inspect, test, and diagnose malfunctions using test instruments.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Own a set of hand tools necessary for the job.
- Must pass DOT-regulated background screening and physical, or have a valid DOT medical card with sufficient validity.
- Must be at least 21 years old due to interstate commerce regulations.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean 3-year MVR review.
