Job summary

City Building Engineering Services (CBES) is seeking an EMS Design Engineer in New Jersey to review, design and coordinate EMS/electrical scope for refrigeration, HVAC and lighting in new and remodeled stores, supporting the Project Manager through construction coordination.

You will use AutoCAD to design EMS electrical systems, coordinate with Energy Management, Store Planning, Architecture and Engineering, perform field surveys, conduct EMS commissioning, and review submittals and requisitions

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong computer skills including AutoCAD, Outlook, Excel, SharePoint, Etc.

Responsibilities

• Utilize AutoCAD to develop designs for EMS electrical requirements for systems
• Coordinate electrical designs with Energy Management, Store Planning, and Architectural and Engineering departments
• Conduct field assessments and due diligence surveys of existing systems
• Commission EMS systems post installation to ensure quality and adherence to the design documents
• Review designs, submittals, equipment requisitions, and other pertinent materials
• Provide technical support for equipment and control systems
• Support the Project Managers to ensure projects remain on schedule

SUMMARY OF POSITION

• Utilize AutoCAD to develop designs for EMS electrical requirements for systems

• Coordinate electrical designs with Energy Management, Store Planning, and Architectural and Engineering departments

REQUIREMENTS

Education and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

• Strong computer skills including AutoCAD, Outlook, Excel, SharePoint, Etc.

• Strong attention to detail and critical thinking ability

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

Travel 20%

Desired Skills:

• Knowledge and experience with supermarket energy management systems (EMS)

• Familiarity with typical supermarket equipment such as compressors, condensers, air handler units, VFD’s, etc.

• Ability to read and understand complex mechanical, electrical, and architectural plans

• 2-5 years’ experience with Refrigeration or HVAC building automation controls
