Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools seeks an EMS Control Specialist to support and enhance EMS operations. You will evaluate, repair, install, re-commission, and maintain energy management control systems, monitor lighting and loads, and work at school and district levels under the Energy Manager.

Requirements include a high school diploma or associate degree with relevant HVAC/DDC training, experience with DDC EMS, and knowledge of NC codes. Position is full-time, on-site with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of North Carolina State Code.
• Knowledge of electrical methods, practices, code requirements and safety standards.
• Knowledge of building and construction codes and regulations.
• Knowledge of Energy Conservation Concepts, Strategies, and Auditing.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures.
• Respond to EMS control emergencies and monitor HVAC equipment.
• Calibrate, repair or replace EMS and related controls.
• Maintain and repair energy management equipment across sites.
• Communicate with contractors and district staff about system issues.
• Safely operate district vehicle and travel to job sites.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent with seven years of extensive technical training or associate’s degree in HVAC technology/DDC control systems with three years of extensive technical training

Experience with pneumatic and non-proprietary DDC vendors

Three years of work experience with DDC EMS

Experience with FDD strategies and implementation

Three years of experience in commercial HVAC systems and/or control systems (DDC/pneumatic)

Equivalent combination of education and experience
