Job summary

UNC Health Nash invites healthcare professionals to join the Nash UNC Health Care team as a Community Paramedic. This role focuses on providing primary care and/or advanced life support, extending access to health services through in-home visits and collaborations with other health professionals.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, current NC Paramedic certification, BCLS, ACLS within 1 year, CPI/ASLS within 1 year, and NIHSS.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Current NC Paramedic certification and NC Office of EMS licensure.
• Current BCLS certification and ACLS within 1 year of hire.
• CPI, ASLS within 1 year and NIHSS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary care and/or advanced life support, including medical evaluation, treatment, and stabilization.
• Extend access to health services in underserved and general populations, including primary care, public health, disease management, prevention and wellness, mental health, and dental health.
• Daily operations include in-home, in-person visits, assessments, and other interventions as needed.
• Work with existing health services and health professionals in an integrated approach; be team oriented and community minded.

Summary:

The EMS Community Paramedic provides primary care and/or advanced life support, including medical evaluation, treatment, and stabilization of the chronically ill and injured with the goal of reducing morbidity and avoidable rehospitalizations for our community members.

Education Requirements:

• High school graduate or GED.

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

• Current certification as a Paramedic with the NC Office of Emergency Medical Services.
• Current BCLS certification.
• ACLS certification is required within 1 year of hire and must be kept current.
• CPI certification is required within 1 year of hire and must be kept current.
• ASLS certification is required within 1 year of hire and must be kept current.
• NIHSS certification.

Professional Experience Requirements:

• 2 years of Paramedic experience is required.
• Supervisory/management development course work, training, or experience preferred.
