Job summary

City Building Engineering Services (CBES-US) is seeking an EMS Design Engineer (Building Automation & Controls) to design, coordinate, commission, and support EMS/BAS for commercial retail projects. The role covers refrigeration, HVAC, lighting, and leak detection with strong collaboration across internal teams and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Controls Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in EMS/BAS, HVAC controls, refrigeration controls, or building controls engineering.
• Experience supporting commercial/retail facilities.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and MS Office (Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, architectural, and control drawings.
• Knowledge of EMS/BAS commissioning, troubleshooting, and field support practices.
• Excellent communication and coordination across stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop EMS and BAS design packages for refrigeration, HVAC, lighting, leak detection, and related systems.
• Create and maintain control schematics, points lists, narratives, and sequences of operation using AutoCAD.
• Coordinate EMS and electrical designs with cross-functional teams.
• Support new stores, remodels, and retrofits, evaluating existing systems and upgrades.
• Conduct field assessments and site surveys to verify conditions.
• Review drawings, submittals, and project documentation.
• Commission and validate EMS control systems, including testing and trend analysis.
• Troubleshoot EMS/BAS and provide technical field support.
• Utilize remote monitoring and IP-based tools for diagnostics across sites.
• Support Project Managers to maintain schedules and resolve issues.
• Collaborate with contractors and vendors during installation and turnover.
• Identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency and reliability.
