Job summary

City Building Engineering Services (CBES) is seeking an EMS Design Engineer to design, coordinate, commission, and support EMS/BAS for new construction and retrofit projects in retail environments. The role requires strong knowledge of building automation, energy management, and electrical design coordination.

The engineer will develop control narratives, sequences of operation, and integration requirements while collaborating with Energy Management, Store Planning, Architecture, Engineering,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Controls Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in EMS/BAS/HVAC or building controls.
• Experience supporting commercial/retail facilities.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Excel/Outlook/SharePoint).

Responsibilities

• Develop EMS and BAS design packages for building systems.
• Create and maintain control schematics, points lists, narratives, and sequences of operation.
• Coordinate EMS and electrical designs with multiple teams and stakeholders.
• Support new store, remodel, and retrofit projects and upgrade recommendations.
• Conduct field assessments and site evaluations to verify conditions.
• Review drawings, submittals, and project documentation.
• Commission and validate EMS controls, including testing and trend analysis.
• Troubleshoot EMS/BAS and provide technical support to field teams.
• Utilize remote monitoring and IP-based tools for diagnostics across sites.
• Assist Project Managers to maintain schedules and resolve technical issues.
• Collaborate with contractors and vendors during installation and turnover.
• Identify energy efficiency and reliability improvement opportunities.
