Job summary

Abilities Of Northwest NJ Inc in WA is seeking Direct Support Professionals to provide direct care, supervision, and support for individuals with developmental disabilities in a residential setting. You will assist with daily living activities, promote independence, and maintain safety while following individualized plans and documenting progress.

Weekend shifts are included, with competitive hourly pay and opportunities for training.

Qualifications

• Ability to exercise good judgment and use common sense.
• Calmness in crisis situations.
• Respectful interaction with a wide range of people.
• Ability to read, write and verbally communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Assist with instruction and training of individuals in pre-vocational activities and community engagements.
• Interact professionally, respectfully, and compassionately with residents.
• Follow behavior plans and trained procedures.
• Administer First Aid to individuals as necessary.
• Provide Crisis Intervention using Crisis Management techniques.
• Assist with cooking, shopping, feeding, toileting, ambulation, and other custodial tasks as needed.
• Contribute to development of individual program goals and life skills.
• Accurately complete required paperwork and records in a timely manner.
• Maintain organized, structured environment and promote independence.
• Support individuals with challenging behaviors and provide one-to-one supervision as required.
• Tolerate physical activity including lifting and standing for multiple hours.
