Job summary

Sac and Fox Tribe of Iowa is hiring a Teacher Associate to support students in the classroom and assist teachers with instructional activities. The role includes learning Meskwaki language and culture, maintaining student safety, and providing academic assistance as assigned.

Responsibilities include working with small groups or individuals, documenting IEPs, and collaborating with general and special education to promote inclusion, while following school policies and attending staff meetings.

• Ability to support students under guidance and follow classroom procedures.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Learn about, respect and support Meskwaki language and culture in and out of the classroom.
• Treat students in a respectful, responsible, fair manner with consideration to students' development.
• Follow the supervision and direction of the classroom teacher in the classroom related responsibilities and duties.
• Learn and use necessary technology and software.
• Carry out and document the individual education plans (IEP) as directed by the special education teacher.
• Work with small groups or individual students.
• Assist students with physical needs when necessary.
• Collaborate between general and special education for inclusion.
• Refer inquiries to the supervising teacher and school administration as directed.
• Be knowledgeable and follow School Board policies on confidentiality, discipline, culture, harassment, and communication.
• Demonstrate motivation and enthusiasm when working with students.
• Attend regularly all staff meetings.
• Carry out supervising responsibilities as assigned by the school administration.
• Cover other duties as needed by the administration.
• Create and assist with extracurricular activities.
