Job summary

ReNEW Schools is hiring a Special Education Teacher to support students with IEPs. You will develop IEPs, plan and deliver individualized instruction, monitor progress, and collaborate with administrators, teachers and families to create an inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities include providing academic, behavioral, social-emotional and adaptive supports, organizing materials, and reporting on progress.

Qualifications

• Develop initial and annual IEPs for students on their caseload
• Facilitate effective lessons
• Provide support for academic, behavioral, social‑emotional, and adaptive needs
• Prepare lessons with learners' needs in mind
• Design activities to meet learning objectives
• Respect students and treat them with compassion and understanding
• Develop educational content including notes, assessments, and assignments
• Progress monitor goals and maintain data tracking; document progress
• Supervise classes to ensure a safe, productive learning environment
• Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, staff and parents
• Organize supplies, resources, and equipment
• Deliver individualized instruction with interactive learning
• Ensure the classroom is clean and orderly
• Plan and implement educational activities beyond the IEP when appropriate
• Prepare and distribute progress, grade, and semester reports
• Plan, prepare, and attend case conference meetings
• Provide services within classroom or resource room as needed
• Demonstrate professionalism through attendance, punctuality and standards
• Maintain positive communication with parents
• Adhere to guidelines set forth in Article 7
• Key Skills: Caring nature; good observation skills; patience; interpersonal communication; empathy; organization and more
• Key soft skills, such as patience and communication, are essential
• Effective in using visuals to support teaching methods
• Ability to use transition methods between subjects
• Use of technology in instruction
