Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree required.
• Indiana Teaching License with emotional handicapped certification.
• Experience working with emotionally handicapped students.
• Ability to plan and organize.
• Skills in human relations - Student-oriented.
• Ability to communicate effectively before groups of students and parents.
• Other qualification as deemed desirable by the School Board.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a member of the multidisciplinary team to determine eligibility for LD, MiMD, and ED programs by administering, processing, and interpreting achievement tests and observing students in classrooms.
• Provide consultative services in writing and verbally to students, parents, and other teachers regarding strengths, weaknesses, and support services.
• Develop and implement daily individual lesson plans based on IEPs.
• Advance development of elementary and secondary students using diagnostic and prescriptive techniques to remediate processing deficits.
• Adapt curriculum for students with disabilities to enable integration of subject areas and assist with career planning/secondary level programming.
• Assist with inclusion of students with disabilities in general education.
• Develop and implement teaching strategies and behavior modification programs to foster self-motivation.
• Assist students in establishing positive interpersonal relationships in schools.
• Participate in long-range planning and development of student IEPs.
• Coordinate case conferences and annual reviews via meetings, data interpretation, and reporting.
• Coordinate system-wide services with administrative personnel.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
