Job summary

Swartz Creek Community School District is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher for the Resource Room in Michigan. You will support students with diverse learning needs, collaborate with staff and families, and implement IEP goals to foster academic, social, and emotional growth.

The role requires a Michigan Teacher Certification with Special Education endorsement, experience with IEPs, and a collaborative, student-centered approach.

Qualifications

• Must possess knowledge and experience in working with IEPs and the IEP process.
• Ability to meet the individual needs of students.
• Knowledge of performance assessments.
• Willingness and ability to work cooperatively on a teaching team.
• Experience with administering individualized instruction to students in special education and general education as a push-in and pull-out instructor.
• Understanding of disabilities and their educational implications.
• Understanding of curriculum design and instructional strategies.
• Understanding and knowledge of learning theories and child development appropriate for various disabilities.
• Knowledge of Special Education laws and regulations.
• Compassionate and patient approach to working with students.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Flexibility to adapt teaching strategies to meet individual student needs.
• Effective classroom management and behavior intervention skills.
• Strong commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current in the field of special education.
