Job summary

ReNEW Schools is seeking experienced Special Education Paraprofessionals in New Orleans to support PK-8 students academically and emotionally. The role starts at $28,000 annually and involves assisting teachers with lesson plans, progress monitoring, and daily living skills development.

The paraprofessional will work under teacher supervision to implement instructional programs, maintain student records, and ensure a safe learning environment.

Qualifications

• Experience and success with students (preferred).
• High school diploma (preferred).
• Commitment and personal responsibility to help prepare students for college and beyond.
• Physical requirements: sitting, walking, standing, talking, hearing; light lifting up to 30 pounds, occasional heavy lifting over 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Adapt classroom work under the direction of the teacher to support and reinforce lesson plans.
• Confer with teachers to assist in evaluating students' progress and implementing objectives.
• Implement plans for students' social and daily living skills under teacher direction.
