Job summary

Chesterfield County Public Schools seeks a dedicated special education teacher to provide specialized academic instruction to students with emotional disabilities, following IEPs and state standards. You will plan, deliver, and assess instruction while collaborating with the IEP team and parents.

The role requires developing adaptive lessons, monitoring progress, maintaining records, and participating in professional development.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of instruction, assessment and program planning for emotionally disabled students.
• Ability to design and implement IEPs for students with disabilities.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; build cooperative relationships.
• Decision making, problem analysis, conflict resolution and planning abilities.

Responsibilities

• Conducts assessment/evaluation of student abilities and needs; attends IEP meetings; assists in developing IEP goals and services.
• Plans and delivers instruction based on district curriculum and IEPs; monitors progress and behavior.
• Establishes and maintains a positive classroom environment and behavior management system.
• Maintains records and reports; communicates progress with parents and staff; trains paraprofessionals.
• Performs additional duties as required by policy and supervision.
