Job summary

City of Walla Walla, WA, seeks a Peer Support Specialist for the CARES Mobile Integrated Health program. You will use lived experience to support individuals, provide mentorship, and connect them with community resources alongside EMS responders.

Responsibilities include case coordination, crisis intervention, documenting interactions in EPCR, and helping participants access services while maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required with direct treatment experience.
• Certified Peer Support Specialist in Washington or able to obtain within 6 months.
• Excellent communication, listening and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
• Experience supporting individuals with behavioral health challenges.

Responsibilities

• Build trusting, supportive relationships based on shared lived experience.
• Provide peer mentoring, encouragement, and advocacy for participants.
• Collaborate with MIH team to identify needs and develop support plans.
• Connect individuals to community resources, healthcare, and social services.
• Document interactions and referrals in accordance with guidelines and confidentiality.
• Participate in case reviews, outreach, and program evaluation.
