The role focuses on planning, designing, implementing and assessing instruction for a diverse middle school cohort, aligned with Virginia Standards of Learning. The teacher collaborates with administrators and families to support student progress across ELL and core content areas.

Qualifications

• Holds or eligible for a Virginia teaching license in middle school with an endorsement in appropriate subject area
• Demonstrated knowledge of subject content, curriculum, methodology of effective teaching
• Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs
• Skilled in the use of multi-media and computer technology to enhance learning
• Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with students, peers, administrators, and parents
• Demonstrated skill in oral and written communications; excellent human relations skills

Responsibilities

• Designs and implements engaging learning experiences using the LCPS curriculum and materials
• Personalizes instruction and manages time to maximize student learning opportunities
• Assesses student growth relative to goals and outcomes
• Communicates with students and parents about progress and expectations
• Plans instructional activities with other staff to maximize learning opportunities
• Supports colleagues, students, parents and community stakeholders to promote student mastery of content and competencies
